Private transfer options to Courchevel

Getting from Geneva Airport to Courchevel

Getting from Geneva Airport to Courchevel is easy and hassle-free via private transfer. We’ll normally take the route via the stunning Lac d’Annecy as it’s a quicker route, and avoids the worst of the traffic in busy weeks. The distance is approximately 140 kms, and around 2 hrs 20 mins. Our drivers are familiar with the mountain roads, ensuring a safe and enjoyable journey. So you can sit back, relax and take in the views.

Getting from Lyon Airport to Courchevel

If you're flying into Lyon Airport, rest assured that Courchevel is easily accessible from this major transportation hub. The distance between Lyon and Courchevel is around 185 kms - a little further than several of the other airport options listed - but it takes a similar time (around 2 hrs 10) as the distance is mostly via motorway or dual carriageway. On the plus side, there’s little danger of travel sickness. But it’s a little more pricey due to the additional fuel and tolls, and it’s worth noting that the roads can get very busy in peak weeks so the time to resort could increase substantially.

Getting from Chambéry Airport to Courchevel

Chambéry Airport prides itself on being the closest airport to the French Alps. The distance is approximately 110 kms, which is reachable in about 90 mins door-to-door - perfect if you’re travelling with little ones and want to keep travel time to a minimum. That said, due to the size and capabilities of the airport you can experience delays or diversions in poor weather, which might be something to consider if you’re yet to book your travel.

Getting from Grenoble Airport to Courchevel

Situated about 190 kms from Courchevel, Grenoble Airport is another popular choice for travellers heading to the French Alps. Private transfers from Grenoble to Courchevel provide a comfortable and efficient means of transportation, getting you to resort in about 2 hrs 10 mins.

Getting from Moutiers Train Station to Courchevel

If you’ve decided to travel by rail, the end of the line is in Moutiers, a mere 20 kms from Courchevel. While there are some public buses available, these aren’t always that convenient if you have a lot of luggage with you and are staying a distance from the bus stop - or if someone in your party has mobility issues. Let us take the heavy lifting, getting you door-to-door in around 30 mins.

Courchevel resort info

Set on the far side of the Three Valleys, Courchevel is one of France’s premiere resorts, with a new tagline branding themselves the “ski capital of the world”. Bold though this claim might be, there is plenty to like about this snow-sure resort, popular with skiers and non-skiers alike.

Courchevel ski stats

  • 150 km of slopes
  • Access to 600 km within the wider Three Valleys
  • Highest point - 2,740m - at the top of Saulire
  • 27 green runs, 44 blue, 38 red and 10 black
  • 62 ski lifts
  • 7 designated beginner ski areas
  • 1 freeride zone, with lots more off-piste terrain within each reach
  • More than 100 restaurants, including 7 holding at least 1 Michelin star

As the stats above show, Courchevel is great for skiers of all ages and abilities. But with plenty of wide open pistes, an impressive grooming record and extensive snow-making facilities to protect it from poor snow conditions, Courchevel is rightly recognised as an intermediates paradise.

Where to stay in Courchevel

The resort is made up of 6 villages: Courchevel, Courchevel Moriond, Courchevel Village, Courchevel Le Praz, Courchevel La Tania, St Bon

Courchevel (formerly named Courchevel 1850)

The highest village and quintessential resort centre, Courchevel is the most luxe of all the villages, with plenty of luxury chalets and 4 and 5 star hotels. Popular with the global high-end market, it’s also the most pricey of all the villages. If you enjoy a bit of retail therapy, Courchevel has plenty of exclusive boutiques from Louis Vitton to Prada, Chanel, and Dior, among many others. It’s also home to 6 of the 7 Michelin starred restaurants in resort. From a skiing perspective, it’s home to a great beginner area, plenty of intermediate slopes, some of the most challenging terrain, both on and off-piste, from the top of Saulire, and it offers easy access to Méribel and the wider Trois Vallées beyond.

Courchevel Moriond (formerly named Courchevel 1650)

A couple of hundred metres below it’s loftier big sister, Moriond is growing in popularity - and as such, appealing more to the high-end market. There are a handful of lively bars and nice restaurants, with a cracking sun terrace at the foot of the piste (The Fire and Ice), perfect for a refined apres session. Due to its location on the far side of the Three Valleys, it’s a great spot to avoid the crowds in busy weeks, and also home to some of the best runs in town, including Gentianes (blue) and Chapelets (red).

Courchevel Village (formerly named Courchevel 1550)

One of the smallest and lesser known villages within the resort, Courchevel Village has traditionally housed much of the more affordable accommodation. That has however changed in recent years, with lots of luxury chalets springing up - drawn no doubt by the easy access to Courchevel (1850) - just a single bubble or chair ride away. The lift from Village runs until 23:30, perfect for a jaunt up the hill for a shopping expedition or dinner out.

Courchevel La Tania

Purpose-built for the Albertville Olympics in 1992, La Tania has a small village centre, surrounded by lots of chalets and apartments. One of the most affordable of the Courchevel villages, it's a popular resort with families. Set amid the trees, it offers a beautiful ski home at the end of the day, enjoying one of the resort’s most popular runs - Folyeres (blue).

Courchevel Le Praz

Set at 1,350m, Le Praz is one of the most traditional and prettiest villages, and one of the few populated year round. With cobbled streets, a small church and a beautiful lake at the foot of the piste, it’s also one of the most quaint. Since the lake area was recently renovated, it’s become a travel destination in its own right - both for winter and summer. And it’s home to some great restaurants and lively bars.

St Bon

With steep and narrow winding streets, this traditional Alpine village has retained all of its original charm, despite the development of the higher levels of resort. Set at 1,100m, it’s not actually connected to the lift system, requiring you to take a short bus ride up to resort. The pizzeria ‘Black Pearl’ hidden in a cave in the centre of this old town is a must see. If you’re looking for something a little off the beaten track and away from the crowds St Bonis well worth a visit, even if you choose to stay elsewhere.
